Efficient time management: Postpone to another day
Managing your time effectively means learning to manage yourself. You need to learn how to deal with the various tasks that need to be done both now and in the future. I find that almost all tasks can go into one of four categories. I call them the four Ds of personal and efficient time management. They are: Do it - This means the tasks must be dealt with immediately and it can only be done by you alone. It is best to schedule to complete these at the earliest opportunity. Delegate it - Some things are better done by other people so you can make better use of your time. If so, delegate it. Dump it - If something isn’t important to you or really isn’t worth doing you should dump it. Defer it - This category is for things that need doing, but now isn’t the best time to do them so you can put them off until later.
