What are Friends For?

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

My friend Meg and I have gotten into the habit of going off on little weekend getaways around the State of Florida.

So I wasn’t surprised when she called and said she had an idea for “the perfect trip”. Of course, I was thinking Tampa.

Imagine my surprise when she said she’d found a Travelocity coupon code online which would allow both of us to fly to London for four days, and not break the bank.

At first I was skeptical, but once we went online and I verified the prices, it was only days before our tickets were bought and we were off on our memorable Great London Adventure.

Sin city hotels

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Before you go and book your vacation to sin city, have a look at the offers avaialble for your week away at boutique hotels Las Vegas. They are probably cheaper than the mainstream hotels on the strip. Most of them are themed on the pyramids or anything novelty like, but probably along art deco lines. But with incredible pampering spa treatments and the most amazing hotel service, they beat most of the chain hotels hands down. Plus they are located just off the strip (2 mins walk) so you can hop on and off it at your leisure.

The big and busy city of Manzanillo offers amazing restaurant, clubs, beaches and fishing. The fishing in Manzanillo is world class fishing, with some of the best fishing in the world. Manzanillo is also a beach resort and, as the self-proclaimed "sailfish capital" of the world, they will host a yearly sailfish fishing tournament that bring in people from all over. Fishing in Manzanillo will surely please any style of angler and it will definitely get the first timers hooked on the sport of fishing.

Frequent Flyer Rewards - An All Expense Paid Vacation

Monday, July 28th, 2008

When we left for Singapore last summer, I was amazed how cheap the air fare was.  I went with my wife and daughter and stayed there for about three weeks.  Not only the air fare was cheap but they also have this Frequent Flyer Rewards, which entitled us for a raffle ticket.  The grand prize was an expense paid travel to Australia.  Wow! It really put my hopes up of seeing Australia for free.  To cut the story short, we did not win the raffle, which is alright for me.  Atleast, they have rewards in store for their customers.

Why Preparedness Applies To Travel As Well As Boy Scouts

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

When I was in Europe with a buddy of mine some time back, we had an interesting little adventure on a weekend excursion we made to Ireland.

We were a bit rushed in planning our trip, so when it came to booking ourselves rooms, we simply found a list of Ireland Hotels, chose the city of Dublin and were done with the matter.

Unfortunately for us, on our mad dash to get everything ready and make it to the airport on time, we misplaced most of our travel itinerary - our hotel reservations included. We ended up spending the better part of four hours checking out various hotels and trying to remember where we had booked in all the confusion. Needless to say, it wasn’t the brightest of my travel memories.

My Daughter, the Equestrian

Friday, July 25th, 2008

My daughter is an equestrian, which is a fancy term for one who rides horses. Anyhow, she qualified for the state 4H show and the whole family went to the state show. While we were there, we checked out the area activities so that we would know what was going on during her ‘down time.’ There actually was a lot to do, as we were near the capital of our state. We had friends who lived there, so even though we stayed at a hotel, we got together with them. We went out to eat and then went site seeing. It was great, even though my daughter and her horse didn’t place.

What Is Travel Insurance?

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

There have been many more inquiries today about protecting yourself and your family. You purchase insurance to cover your home in case of storm damage. You purchase insurance to cover your car in case of a car accident. So, why not protect yourself while on vacation as well? This is where travel insurance comes in to play. Such insurance protects you from the risks of travel. If you’ve lost valuables or your luggage, there is help. If there are storms brewing over the Atlantic and your trip is cancelled, there is help. If you develop medical issues with an immediate need, there will be help.

Sell Your Timeshare: Veer Away From Being A Victim

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

Most people who owned timeshare properties but don’t need it are kind of a victim actually because the agent who sold them the timeshare didn’t tell how tiresome it is to re-sell timeshare properties.   Unlike a house that you have to invest and sweat out a lot to get, it is more difficult to sell your timeshare property because it is not a necessity.  Timeshares are not real estate properties.  Timeshare properties are shares in a real estate property.  People buy them for the pure please of staying at five-star hotel for the cost of a cheaper hotel. The great resort salespersons who sell timeshare resorts are very quick to tell about how wonderful it is to lap in the luxury if a timeshare resort.  It’s rare to find anyone who’s forthcoming enough to tell you about how difficult it is to re-sell a timeshare.
