Stapleton Colorado: The “Green Plan”

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

In an attempt to reinvent an old airfield site way back 1989, Stapleton developers deliberated plans to redevelop the old Stapleton International Airport site, although it was only after the convention of Stapleton Development Foundation in 1990 where a master plan for the site was produced. The plan proposed by the group was a plan that laid emphasis on the residential site as being pedestrian-oriented rather than the automobile-oriented (an otherwise odd design considering that many major planned urban developments were the opposite). The Stapleton Colorado planned community in Colorado is slated to become grounds for the "green plan," a world-recognized outline for a sustainable community – and why not when nearly one-third of the former airport site has been redeveloped as public park space? Almost a decade later, after the construction of the area began in 2001 – over a thousand homes have been built for your shelter needs.

What Type Of Travel Insurance Do I Need ?

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

The types of travel insurance available for people is dependent upon what type of travel they are booking. What I mean is, are they traveling domestically or internationally? Are they traveling alone or with a family member? Are they going on a business trip or a vacation? All else being equal, for how long are they planning the trip and do they or a family member have a pre-existing medical condition? Suresave Travel Insurance provides coverage for citizens or residents of Australia. Depending upon what the answers are to the aforementioned questions, the cost for coverage will vary. Their website is well organized and easy enough to understand. I am usually overwhelmed by websites with too much information but I did not experience this with the Suresave site. If you need further clarification regarding any questions you have, there are telephone numbers listed and it would be wise to call and get needed answers.

City Planning

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

As a former City Planner I was intrigued to learn that Edinburgh was a pioneer in early city redevelopment projects. James Craig, won a competition in 1762 to create a design for the city. The building of his winning design was started in 1767 and completed by 1810. New Town was developed on a grid system and included areas for residential, shopping and hotels in Edinburgh. Due, in part, to this redevelopment project, Edinburgh grew to become the second most important financial city outside of London. It was designed in neo-classical architecture and became known to the world as “the Athens of the North.”

Booking hotels on-line

Monday, September 8th, 2008

I’ve come to realize over the years that the internet is such an amazing source of information. It truly makes people’s lives easier and better, if used the right way. For example, if you love to shop, you can purchase most anything on-line in the comfort of your own home.

Or if you have to travel for either pleasure or business, then you can find the cheapest rates for US hotels by simply filling out some information, submitting it, and then wait to see what good deals you can get. It’s a wonderful thing having technology and the world at your fingertips with just the few touches of a button.

How expensive is this?

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

I am going on a trip, and I was thinking that it might be nice to get travel insurance so that I don’t have to worry about anything happening. However, I am not willing to spend a lot of money on this since I haven’t really had any major problems on other trips, and it isn’t a big worry for me. How expensive is Australian travel insurance? If it is reasonably priced it would be worth it to me to buy it so that I wouldn’t have to worry about the unexpected and will be covered if any unforeseen circumstances should arise?

A Love for the Business

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Wine making can be a fascinating process. Although its not like “I Love Lucy,” with people smashing grapes by stomping on them, there are still many steps that can only be completed by people rather than machines. That’s one of the reasons I found visiting the boutique wineries during our California wine tasting tour so fascinating. Many places were handed down from parent to child, and you could see the pride in the owners’ eyes as they explained the process. One of the things I found most fascinating was how tiny changes, like the ratio of grapes and yeast, can dramatically change the taste of the wine.
