Stapleton Colorado: The “Green Plan”
Sunday, September 14th, 2008In an attempt to reinvent an old airfield site way back 1989, Stapleton developers deliberated plans to redevelop the old Stapleton International Airport site, although it was only after the convention of Stapleton Development Foundation in 1990 where a master plan for the site was produced. The plan proposed by the group was a plan that laid emphasis on the residential site as being pedestrian-oriented rather than the automobile-oriented (an otherwise odd design considering that many major planned urban developments were the opposite). The Stapleton Colorado planned community in Colorado is slated to become grounds for the "green plan," a world-recognized outline for a sustainable community – and why not when nearly one-third of the former airport site has been redeveloped as public park space? Almost a decade later, after the construction of the area began in 2001 – over a thousand homes have been built for your shelter needs.
