William Lyle and Walker Scott started their enterprise with a meager amount of £ 1300 and established a knitwear company at a very small level in Hawick. They both began to manufacture an incredibly high quality hosiery products and underwear. Company obtained matchless success in its early years. lyle scott; well aware of market requirements, then started manufacturing the knitted outerwear including pullovers, jackets for golfers, twin sets and cardigans. Company attained an astounding response. Company then joined French fashion designer Christian Dior in 1954 to produce exclusive products. Resultantly in no time, brand became much sought after in United States and Canada.
