Feeding Your Pet Fish
The number one rule when it comes to good goldfish care is to remember not to over feed your fish. Unlike other animals, a goldfish will not stop eating when it is full and will thus literally eat until its stomach explodes if there is enough food given at any one time. When I was a boy I did not believe my parents’ continued insistence not to overfeed the fish and thus, it wasn’t until I saw it for myself that I believed it. In a nut shell, I emptied half a bottle of fish food into our little fish’s tank and watched as he ate the tiny flakes to the point that he was “coughing” them back up. When my parents found him later that day, belly up and floating in a pile of food, you can bet your bottom dollar I ended up getting in some trouble.
